Why You Need More Throw Blankets in Your Home

They save your furniture and expensive linens

If you have a full house with messy dogs or kids, the value of throw blankets is immeasurable. While you make think of their use purely for aesthetic or cuddle value (both are important!), you can use throws to cover nice upholstered furniture as the first line of defense from sticky fingers or dirty paws. We keep a giant throw over our couch in the living room and at the end of our bed and they have kept dog chews, wet paws, and dirty faces from direct contact with the fabric. You can put them strategically on chair backs, upholstered coffee tables, and the end of your guest bed. They look pretty and are functional!

Make your home more cozy and inviting

My favorite throws are the soft faux fur that feel silky in your hands. They make a room instantly feel more cozy and welcoming. Soft blankets make chairs and couches more comfortable and break up harsh lines or stark walls.

Add color and texture to any room

Throws can go in almost any room in your home from dining rooms to bedrooms. By just changing out a few details in a room, new throws and pillows can add more color or dimension to a room. If you think something more to complete a room but you don’t want to add any more color, find a throw with pom pom or fun texture details. If you want to add more color, find one in a bold green, blue or pink. They are super easy to store and switch out later or rotate around your house if it no longer matches one specific room.

Inexpensive update

I’ve found some really cute ones (here, and here) for a great price! I also always take a look whenever I’m at Home Goods or TJ Maxx because you can snag them for under $20! Instead of recovering a chair, try adding a large throw over it to soften the appearance and take the focus away from a piece you aren’t loving at the moment. Also, if you have an imperfection in your furniture (i.e. cat claw marks) you can use a pretty throw to lay over them.

Easy to wash

I love anything and everything that is easy to wash! Most of the throws that I can are machine washable and you can just pop them in the washer if they get dirty (unlike having to dry clean or spot clean upholstery). You don’t need a large industrial size washer or any special hand-washing!

Where are your favorite places to find fun throw blankets?!

Thanks for stopping by!
