Why a Black Jumpsuit is a Wardrobe Staple

If you would have asked me a year ago if I would be on the jumpsuit bandwagon, I would have said heck. no. I’ve always been partial to dresses and didn’t think I would be able to find a jumpsuit that was flattering. But I kept seeing friends rock some super cute looks and wearing them to all different occasions from weddings to baby showers so I decided to give them a try.

I ended up ordering around four just to see what I thought about the different styles. I kept two of them (here and here), but the trick for me was to get the legs altered from the more popular wide leg to a more fitted and flattering cut for my body type. Even though I have only had them for a few months, I’ve already worn them to a fashion show, date night, charity event, a wedding (it was the backup outfit – but still an option!) and I brought it with me to Vegas for my birthday!

What really draws me to jumpsuits is the versatility. Have you ever had an event to go to and were not really sure what to wear – is it cocktail, business casual, or something way more casual? Now when I have one of those confusing events I wear a black jumpsuit because it is formal enough to blend it with nice dresses but casual enough not to stick out if everyone has on jeans. You can wear formal jewelry or simple hoops depending on where you are going. I’ve debated getting a few work appropriate jumpsuits (this one and this one) that I can pair with a fun blazer and jewelry that are great for happy hours after work as well. I also love that they can be all seasons – the backless one I’m wearing is cool enough for summers or just add a jacket for fall.

Another thing I love – and this is a common theme in my old age – is how comfortable they are! Pants are just so dang comfortable for moving around and keeping you warm! Not to mention the one piece means no yanking down on tops or pulling up on pants.

Here are some more of my favorite and affordable options below! If you find one you like, click the heart to get updates if it goes on sale! 🙂

Have you jumped on the jumpsuit bandwagon?
