Dining Room Tour - Before & After

Another before and after room tour is up on the blog! The “before” pictures of the dining room are from the listing of the house before we bought it ~2 years ago.

This dining room had such great potential with the wainscoting, crown molding, natural light and hardwoods. All it really needed was an updated light fixture, smaller furniture, new paint and to open the window to let all of the light flood in.

Most of the items in this room are either antiques, collected from small shops, or hand-me-downs from my mom, so I’ve listed similar items above (except the new rug!).

This rug is another washable rug! If you didn’t see my living room tour, these 8×10 rugs can be washed in your washing machine. Since I do so much dog fostering (and my pups can make quite the mess), I was having to buy a new rug every 6 months. Now I can just wash them – definite game-changer!

I’m a fan of mixing metals because I consider them both neutrals, and I think over-doing silver or gold can start to look a little too bling-y (let’s just pretend that’s a real word!). The chandelier is airy and bright and doesn’t feel too fancy for the style of the room while adding some glam. The sconces in the living room blend nicely with the gold details of the art on the right wall and gold mirror on the back wall.

The flowers in the middle of the table are actually an indoor azalea plant. I snagged it for $19.99 at my local grocery store and put in a white planter.
