Why You’ll Love this DIY Floral and Candle Centerpiece
- It take less than 15 minutes
- You can use grocery store flowers
- You can use any vessel that holds water!
- No fancy floral foam needed!
- It looks professional and way more complicated to make than it actually is 😉
- It cost way less than a professional flower arrangement and you still get the same beautiful look!
What You Will Need to Make this Centerpiece
- Bowl or large vessel for flowers
- Candle holder (make sure this won’t let water in). I used a glass vase!
- Candle. I just used a plain/unscented candle
- Flowers – I used:
- Hydrangeas
- Roses
- Eucalyptus
- Any flowers you like!
- Tape – you will need this for the tape grid that will hold the flowers and secure the candle holder
See the How-to Video Here!
Step-by-step DIY floral and candle centerpiece tutorial
- Add candle to candle holder
- Add candle to center of bowl/vessel
- Put on your tape grid. Add tape strips from the top to bottom of the bowl and from side to side. A tape grid will look like a checkerboard (see video). Your tape grid should secure your candle holder in place
- Add in your water
- Start adding in your flowers. I like to add with my draped eucalyptus along the edges. Then add in your hydrangea. End with your roses or “focal flower”
- Make sure that the tape grid is covered up and add flowers accordingly

FAQs
Yes! I added it to the bowl after adding the candle to the center
It should last the same amount of time as a regular flower arrangement. Make sure that all of the flower stems are in the water
Absolutely! Choose whichever flowers work for you! You could also use faux instead of fresh flowers.
Additional Tips
- Select flowers that “drape” over the sides. I opted for Eucalyptus
- Make sure that your bowl/vessel can hold water!
- Choose a candle holder that is tall enough where it won’t catch the flowers on fire
- The tape grid is key! If it’s not holding the candle, add more rows of tape
