Grayson’s nursery was finally complete…just in time for us to move! Hah! I really loved his room at our Heights House and was so happy with the way it turned out. It felt warm and cozy but also bright and welcoming. It was a pretty small room but had just enough space for all of the essentials.

Before and After of this Room!

A little before and after of the space. The before is from the listing photo.

When I was designing his nursery, I first started with a design board. I made about 10 iterations of this board before finally pulling the trigger on some of these items. My goal was to make it feel fresh and bright and match the style of the rest of the house, but have its own unique vibe that was both “baby boy” and a room he could grow into as he got older – little did I know we would be moving so soon🤪 . You can see the design board below (it was made with Canva).

A few touches that made this room special to me: hanging the photo I took on our trip to Croatia over the crib, this beautiful blue wall (French Toile by Benjamin Moore), and the fun basket pendant*!

*We had to get a hardwiring kit to convert this pendant into a chandelier!

To make a nursery extra cozy, I highly recommend this chair if you’re having a baby. It is extremely comfortable – even for my husband who claimed it was his favorite chair in the house! You will spend a LOT of time in a rocking chair with a new baby, and it was definitely worth spending a little more to get the right one. The electric recline feature and USB port for your phone are a must! At first I was worried about the cream color, but it has held up with great with very little stains or pulls.

These cute acrylic shelves were an Amazon find and are so great for storing and displaying books. I saw a good tip for our next house to make sure to hang them low so that Grayson will be able to pick out his own books once he gets a little older 🙂

I get questions about the curtains in the old house quite frequently (and sadly we had to leave them for the new owner). These were custom made for the house, and we had the same linen style throughout the upstairs and downstairs. BUT – I found an amazing pinch pleat curtain on Amazon that I’ve already ordered and installed in Grayson’s new room and they are GREAT! I’m telling you – I almost can’t tell the difference in the Amazon pinch pleat drapes and the custom ones – except the price tag 🙂

This crib is an amazing deal and under $300 and comes in a few different shades – the “dove gray” is precious! It also has a toddler conversion rail that you can buy and store for when you want to convert the crib into a bed.

Now I am on to thinking about Grayson’s room at the new house! I am keeping all of the main furniture with a few tweaks to the art, curtains and rug. Plus, since the room is bigger we will be putting a day bed in there which will add some extra seating. I’ll be sure to show updates on Instagram!
