This floral arrangement is SO. EASY, but it looks much more expensive (these are under $20 each) and complicated than it is. I am definitely not a floral expert, but I love to learn how to make my own centerpieces or arrangements to put around my house. This arrangement needs zero foam, tape, or fancy equipment. I picked up these flowers at a local grocery store and they were very reasonably priced!
To be honest, the only reason I made this post was because I impulse bought these peonies at the grocery store.. oops! I’ve never actually bought peonies before and they were so beautiful in person I really felt the need to photograph them. I wasn’t sure how the arrangements were going to turn out, but let’s just say I was pretty proud of myself and felt the need to share how easy they were to make. Now I need one of my friends to have a baby shower so that I can have an excuse to make these again!
What You Need (this is for 2 centerpieces):
- Glass Vases (bubble here or cylinder here but you can get them at the dollar store too!).
- You could also use a blue/white ginger jar for a stunning look! You could really use any type of holder laying around your house – I’ve even used cute coffee mugs for flowers on a bedside table.
- Scissors
- 1 Farmers bunch of hydrangea (had about 5 stems) ($9.99)
- 2 bunches of peonies (5 stems per bunch of varying size) ($11.99 each)
- This was a really good price! I’m looking online to find a wholesaler with the same bulk pricing, but the best deal I can find for peonies is here (really good prices for bulk!) and garden roses (look very similar!) is here or here on Amazon! You have to be careful with pricing because online floral retailers can add on huge shipping prices during checkout, so you might get a better deal in small quantities buying local.
- 1 bunch of greenery (mine had an assortment and about 10 stems which was too many) ($4.99) – you could also use greenery from your yard and save some money!
Step 1 (left):
- Cut (at an angle) 3 hydrangea stems (depending on what size vase, one vase used 3 and one used 2) and remove leaves. Stick in the vase on opposite sides so that the stems are overlapping. I added one more stem to the picture below.
Step 2 (right):
- Cut peony stems and remove leaves. Fill in peonies all around vase to add color and fill in gaps.
Step 3:
Cut greenery to desired height. One of the arrangements uses smaller stems placed at the base for movement (left) and one of the arrangements adds height sticking further out (right). If you like a more polished look, you could even skip the greenery altogether. I like the depth and movement it adds.
Enjoy!
Use these as centerpieces for parties, baby showers, wedding showers, etc or simply to beautify your home! Put them on coffee tables, in the center of your dining table, on bedside tables, buffet tables, on a windowsill… they look wonderful basically anywhere. They also work great as gifts (for easy transport, only fill up half the water and add more water once they get to the desired destination) and you can skip the floral shop markup (anywhere from $65-$90 per arrangement!). There are endless uses for these beautiful bouquets.
A few days later the peonies really opened up and were so beautiful! They made stand-alone arrangements all by themselves.
Do you have any go-to flowers that you use for an easy floral arrangement?
