Foster Pup Journey – Wicket’s Story

Wicket’s Story

If I had to describe Wicket in one word, it would be “hilarious”. She is just so dang funny. We ended up calling her Wiggles* for the majority of her stay at our house because 1.) She would jump and wiggle around so the name just fit and 2.) She came to us with the name Wicket and we didn’t know what a “Wicket” even was (Google it and you’ll see why she was named) until she was adopted.

Wicket was saved from euthanasia from a smaller shelter because she needed a dental and the shelter didn’t have the funding to pay for her care. A dental is an easy procedure to clean and remove rotted teeth, but it can be expensive because it requires anesthesia (anywhere from $300-$800 depending on the tooth removal) so the shelter sent out an urgent plea. CAMO rescue came to her rescue and grabbed her with a last resort tag. She was originally with a different foster family who absolutely adored her but could no longer care for her so I offered to go pick her up!

*I would pick her up and sing a cheer to her but replace the word with Wiggles….She Wiggles to the left and she wiggles to the right, she Wiggles down the center and Fight Fight Fight! Goooooo Wiggles! [insert side-eyes from husband who thinks I’m nuts]

On our way home!

This girl came into our house like she had been there for years! She was so easy-going and loved every human she met. We took her to multiple events because she just loved all of the attention and car rides! She was a crowd favorite ๐Ÿ™‚ . Look how cute she is in her bows!

We ended up having Wicket for about 3 months. Since she is an older gal (6 years) it was hard for some people to see past her cloudy blue eye and white hair. Even though she was sweet, loving, potty trained, and her personality was always keeping us laughing, it’s harder to find older dogs a home. I always emphasize how important the pictures are for networking foster pups, but they are infinitely more important for those that are considered “less adoptable”. She was a little harder to photograph (ahem, see above Gremlin pose ๐Ÿ™‚ ), but I think I got some pictures that show her cutie pie personality (bottom left is my fave).

After spending Christmas and Valentines day with this little girl, the rescue received an app that sounded like a good fit, so off we went to the home visit.

You know the feeling where you meet someone and you just KNOW that you’ll be friends? That is how our meet and greet went for Wicket and her adopter. I knew Wicket’s adopter was going to be her forever mom – 1.) She is a Star Wars fan and loved the name Wicket 2.) Wicket ran around her town home and gave her all kinds of love and pretty much forgot I was even there 3.) Her forever mom was super sweet, quirky and a little adventurous – just like Wicket!

Adoption Day with her new Momma! ๐Ÿ™‚

It was destiny! A few days after Wicket was adopted, I got a text telling me telling me how happy she and Wicket are and that Wicket is being spoiled rotten….makes me tear up writing this months later!

Happy Life Wiggle girl!!
