The Best Outfit for Traveling

Maxi dresses are my go-to outfit for traveling*. I wore this one (under $35!!) on my flight to Cabo, and got several compliments on it (of course I let everyone know it was only $34!).

Benefits of traveling in a Maxi:

  • If you are anything like me, you are probably freezing anywhere you go – especially on planes. Maxi dresses provide enough coverage on your legs to keep you warm, but are less constricting than jeans. I’ll usually bring a sweater/white denim jacket to provide extra warmth and they are so easy to take off if you are traveling to a warm destination.
  • Maxi’s allow for mobility to move around, so unlike a short dress you can bend over to grab luggage without worrying you’ll cause a scene. Also, you don’t have to worry about the dress getting caught in a carry-on bag or backpack (this actually happened to me in college so I think I’ve learned my lesson!).
  • They are also versatile in the rare case it is too hot on the plane – we’ve all been there when you are sitting on the tarmac and it feels like they’ve turned the engine off- and you can gather up the skirt to let your legs breath.
  • Another benefit is that you can go straight from the airport to an event – just trade out your flip flops for heels! I love how you can wear this dress below to the beach or a nice dinner.

*this is assuming I’m not traveling in yoga pants! I usually at least try to look cute on the way there, but let’s be real – I usually look like a mess on the way home.
